The source code for your Javascript page

When you have added the required parts of code, this is what the source code of your page will look like. Your editing software may insert additional lines too, but essentially, all these things should be visible on your page.

Please report problems and make suggestions for improving both this explanation, and the pages themselves.

<TITLE>Write a meaningful title here*</TITLE>

*These are the words which will be stored in someone's bookmarks/favorites file after they bookmark the page. Choose a meaningful title - not just 'Web Evangelism Guide'. Bookmarks often run alphabetically. You may also wish to write a 'meta description' for the page.

<SCRIPT SRC="http://www.web-evangelism.com/wordreference/wordrefenable.js" LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT">
</SCRIPT>
<!--End WordReference, Copyright 1999 WordReference.com, LLC. -->

The Wordreference javascript will enable second-language visitors to your page to receive a one-click translation of any word in four languages. It is not essential to the operation of the page that you include this, but it is a bonus to those who do not speak English as their first language, and this capability is referred to in the 'language help' link in the contents, so please use it. If you want to use Wordreference free on the rest of your site, please follow the easy application system at WordReference.

<SCRIPT SRC="http://www.gospelcom.net/guide/scripts/starterpage.js" LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT"></SCRIPT>

Because the Guide is a long page, this script pulls up a short introductory page while the main page is loading. This script can be omitted if you have a simple page structure which allows the first part of the main page to come visible immediately. But it is highly recommended if you have any sort of table structure which will mean that in most browsers, none of the Guide main page will come visible until it is completely downloaded.

</HEAD>

<BODY BACKGROUND="yournormalbackground.gif" BGCOLOR="yournormalchoice">*

Please don't include an ALINK=link color in your BODY tag.

We highly recommend that you specify some page margins, so that text does not run to the edge of the monitor. You can do this with a Style Sheet in the HEAD of the page, margin specifications in the body tag, or just enclose the entire page in opening and closing <BLOCKQUOTE> tags. (You can of course specify fonts, background colors and graphics, and much else, using Style Sheets.)

This is where you can place your normal navigation bar here, or your usual page graphics and links.

<H2>Your choice of heading*</H2>

*Could be something like 'Reaching the world online' or 'Your site-name's guide to Web Evangelism'. Use <H1>, <H2> or other specification of your choice for this heading.

You may customize the page by writing a subheading or a short introductory paragaph here below the heading, to set the page within the context of your own site, though this is is not essential. (This introduction should be set in font size="-1" and FONT FACE="HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF,ARIAL" in order to match the present introductary paragraph - make sure you close the font tag at the end of any introduction here.

The Javascript code is placed here (but note - if your page uses tables, each of the five insert codes should be placed in separate consecutive tables, for important reasons explained here). You can change or shorten the description within the noscript tags, but make sure that you include the link so that anyone whose javascript is not working can still read the material.

The invention of 'movable type' - the printing press. It transformed education, learning, evangelism and communication. It laid the foundations for the Renaissance, the arts, sciences, and the world as we know it today. The digital revolution is bringing about a similar huge change in evangelism, Christian discipleship and community, in ways which are only just beginning.<P> How can we use the Web for effective evangelism?<BR> <B><A HREF="http://www.gospelcom.net/guide/index.php">Click here to find out</A></B>

If you wish to add to the list of 'Other top evangelism links' at the end of the page, use <FONT SIZE="-1"> and place them here - they will flow on without a break from the provided list of links at the end of the inserted text.

If you normally have a navigation bar or other material at the end of your page, place it here as normal. You may wish to include an <A HREF="#top">Back to top</A> link at this point too.
