Reaching outsiders with integrity

What is the difference between true evangelism and proselytism? How can we avoid what John Stott has called ‘unworthy witnessܣ? What counts as tricks and cheating?

This article by a researcher in a major mission group, asks some searching questions. He also describes a layered approach to ministry within a community, which has integrity, and also fits in very clearly with the concept of the Gray Matrix model of spiritual journeys.

Who determines if our witness is worthy? Our lives should, where possible, win the respect of non-believers (1 Thess. 4:12). But in the face of opposition, our witness – with or without words - must be true and spring from sound motives.
