"Evangelizing in the church is like fishing in a bathtub: it's terribly convenient, but you don't catch much" – Roy Fish

BOOK REVIEW: PLATFORM - GET NOTICED IN A NOISY WORLD

Now I have read Platform, I can confirm this book is as good as others say it is. Which is, an extremely useful and practical guide to using social media to communicate your message. Whether you are a non-profit, mission agency, advocacy campaigner, church, Christian ministry, resources supplier, or an individual wanting to leverage social media for evangelism or discipleship, this book provides the road map. And, unlike much online advice about social networking and marketing, it is not primarily about sales.

DIGITAL EVANGELISM RESEARCH PROJECT - YOUR HELP NEEDED

Amber Stamper is planning a post-grad research study into digital evangelism. Of the many legitimate areas of online evangelism, she wants to research bridge strategy - ie. taking a secular topic or felt need as a starting point, as against a straight gospel presentation. Even this, of course, is something that has a wide range of expressions. She explains here plans and offers a short questionnaire in an online Word document. Please help her with your perspective and experiences:

DECEMBER - BE PREPARED

December sees several interesting events, as well as Christmas. It is good to be planning now any online blog posts, church programs, or other responses:

LES MISERABLES - the film of the musical releases in December (N America) and January (Europe). A very redemptive story, and therefore an ideal conversation starter. You can also read the Cliff's study notes on the book free here, and the full libretto:

Churches - plan online Christmas stuff now, says Internet Toolbox for Churches:

HIDING TEXT FROM GOOGLE - I have a quite detailed and explanatory popout menu. Unfortunately, in Google results, this means that pages appear that are not really about the search terms at all, just because those terms appear within the menu, but relate to other pages. Seems that enclosing content with the OBJECT HTML tag hides stuff from Google. I'm trying it on my menu. Anyone have further advice on this?
