INTERNET EVANGELISM DAY 29 APRIL

4 weeks to go! There'll be some great freebie ebooks available on IE Day 29 April, like last year.

You should have received the news items about IE Day last week. Please, if you can share them in any way, this will be wonderful. Here they are again in a Word document:
http://ieday.net/docs/latestnews.doc

Especially, please post news of IE Day in Facebook or Twitter. By sharing this news with your network and friends, you will be making a direct contribution to equip many other people to reach out online in multiple ways:

OUR DAILY PAPER - DO YOU WANT TO MAKE ONE TOO?

Paper.li is a great system that automatically syndicates Twitter or Facebook news directly into a daily or weekly online newspaper. You can choose up to 10 feeds, and these can be twitter hashtags or users, Facebook keywords, etc. You can also manually add a page you wish to include. People can subscribe to your paper by email (not yet RSS, that would be a good option) or by following the paper's owner's twitter feed.

The value of a Paper.li is that it draws together the best tweeted news of that day (and it does not include personal twitter updates that lack a link). So the curation spadework is done for you and your readers.

We now have a Paper.li daily called Digital Evangelism Resources. You can subscribe to it by email, and embed it in your own blog or website:

GOD'S GPS MOBILE APP RELEASES

Another great evangelism-related phone app has been released. This is a 'web app' (see explanation in Mobile Phone section below) which you buy (for pennies - Paypal 'buy now' button or bank card) and download from a website, rather from iTunes/Android Market. It's available in 40+ languages. If you have ever tried to figure out how to naturally start a spiritual conversation, or wondered how to engage your neighbors, friends, family and co-workers in practical, doable, and authentic ways that help them move towards the heart of Jesus, God's GPS was designed for you. It is produced by Doug Pollock and team - Doug wrote God Space, which was a special book focus for IE Day last year. It distills Doug's experience that he shares in his books and seminars.

The app's purpose is to equip Christians to share faith appropriately and conversationally; it is not intended for non-yet-followers to download or look at. These principles apply both offline and online.

THE HUNGER GAMES HAS WORLDWIDE POPULARITY

The Hunger Games movie has released across the world, with critical acclaim. It may not be a film that would appeal to your auntie, or perhaps even you - if your demographic is not teens and twenties. But be assured, most of your church youthgroup and their peers will see this one. And it's definitely not a lightweight high school comedy. This is deep and serious. And it can be a great conversation starter:

It is a tragedy that there is relatively little online evangelistic material for both younger or older teens. Yet these are the ones most geared to communicating online and through mobiles.

MOBILE PHONES

THINK MOBILE - always. Chris White explains mobile phones and Africa:

UNDERSTANDING APPS - Smartphone users will be familiar with normal 'native' apps obtainable from iTunes (Apple) or Android Market (now called Google Play). These download onto your phone as mini-programs, and may function with no data connection, unless they need to draw down current information. However, there also 'web apps' which do not download at all in this sense. They are effectively shortcuts to a mobile website, and if the app is pay-for, they take you through a paywall. They have advantages and disadvantages, which Antoine J Wright of Mobile Ministry Magazine explains:
