GREAT IDEAS FOR YOUR CHURCH ON IE DAY

At one time, digital evangelism was mainly an intentional ministry for a minority of people with writing or tech gifts. No longer. Now there are so many easy ways of sharing your faith in the course of your normal online life.

You can share these options with your church, using a short program on Internet Evangelism Day (or any other convenient time):

Please share this item very widely, republish, blog, tweet etc.

NEW BOOK HUGELY SIGNIFICANT FOR DIGITAL MINISTRY

Viral: How Social Networking Is Poised to Ignite Revival
Len Sweet
Waterbrook Press
229 pages paperback
ISBN 978-0-307-45915-2

Published on 13 March, Viral is probably the best and most insightful recent explanation of the contrasting print and digital communication cultures, the tension between them, and the huge implications for Christians, the church, especially in the retelling of the good news:

BE A CURATOR - IT'S A VITAL KINGDOM MINISTRY

You may not necessarily associate the terms curator and curation with the Internet, thinking of them as applying only to museums and art galleries. A museum curator has to be an expert and enthusiast in her field, and want to share that with others.

There is a big need in the fields of evangelism, discipleship and missions, to offer people a 'best of' list of resources, perhaps with reviews and other advice too:

WEBSITE USABILITY TESTING

One of the most essential, and least used, procedures for a website is usability testing. In other words, watching how an average user unfamiliar with the website can actually cope with it.

"Thinking aloud is the #1 usability tool," says Jakob Neilsen. "Simple usability tests, where users think out loud, are cheap, robust, flexible, and easy to learn. Thinking aloud should be the first tool in your UX toolbox, even though it entails some risks and doesn't solve all problems."

HASHTAGS FOR CHURCH MINISTRY

It is always good when there are accepted hashtags for certain areas of ministry.

There are many tools for following a specific hashtag.

Please let me know any other digital ministry tweets that have wide acceptance.
