"In a post-Christian world where most people have said 'no thanks' to our traditional 'God Spaces', we need people with 'web feet' who understand how to create God Space on the Internet" - Doug Pollock

COMMUNICATING WELL

BOOK REPUBLISHED - Rev Michael White's book 'Digital Evangelism - You Can Do It Too' has just been republished as a second revised edition:

AVOID URBAN LEGENDS - there are so many well-meaning but wrong stories, both specifically Christian and general, circulated in ministry. They frequently get into print, which makes us feel they are more trustworthy. Trevin Wax has gathered together some that we may unwittingly use:
http://trevinwax.com/2011/04/27/urban-legends-the-preachers-edition/

One that Trevin does not mention is the frequent preacher's claim that eagles push babies out of the nest on a 'sink or swim' basis, but then catch them if they fall. Not true. In fact, they entice them with food, by degrees, to start stepping out of the nest onto a branch or ledge:

To check general stories in circulation, always check Snopes before passing anything on:

ATTRACT, don't attack, in evangelism:

EVANGELISTIC ALPHA-LIKE COURSES - Steven Kryger at Communicate Jesus blog (which was our blog of the month for April) shares a comparative chart of the various Alpha-like group courses:

TAILEND ô¿ô

Signs You Are Probably an Elementary School Teacher

~ You ask guests if they have remembered their scarves and mittens as they
leave your home.
~ You move your dinner partner's glass away from the edge of the table.
~ You ask if anyone needs to go to the bathroom as you enter a theater with
a group of friends.
~ You hand a tissue to anyone who sneezes.
~ You declare "no cuts" when a shopper squeezes ahead of you in a checkout
line.
~ You ask "Are you sure you did your best?" to the mechanic who fails to
repair your car to your satisfaction.
~ You sing the "Alphabet Song" to yourself as you look up a number in the
phone book.
~ You say everything twice. I mean, you repeat everything.
