CULTURAL EVANGELISM

European Christian Mission (ECM) has reported that a new approach of 'cultural evangelism' has reached 160 people in Villa del Rio, a town in southern Spain. This region has until now largely resisted Christianity.

Claudia Velazquez - a Christian artist whose paintings are based mainly on biblical and spiritual themes - arranged an exhibition with the Town Hall. Villa del Rio was perfect for this initiative, as it has a large building that has recently been converted into a museum and art gallery. Various exhibitions of the work of local artists have already been held.

Richard Tiplady of ECM said: "Had the people of Villa del Rio been invited to a traditional evangelistic event the attendance would have been negligible."

WEB-BASED OUTREACH IN AUSTRALIA

The 'All About Life' campaign is continuing in Australia. It is integrating web and media advertising with local churches on the ground.

In contrast to previous national media campaigns like "Power to Change", this team are presenting TV and billboard ads city by city, rather than nationally in one hit. The pilot campaign was completed last year in Adelaide. Next up is Canberra (the capital city). Please pray for many in Canberra to respond and find Jesus during the March campaign.

INTERNET EVANGELISM DAY - NEWS RELEASES READY

We now have two ready-made news releases about the 7 May Internet Evangelism Day. The longer one is primarily for print magazines, the short one particularly for email newsletter. Please can you publish them, or send them to Christian magazines and newsletters you are in touch with?

YES, I UNDERSTAND. I THINK

A hilarious 2-minute video clip which can be used to demonstrate how people can totally not 'get' a new concept - be it web evangelism or anything else. A rail executive demonstrates a new franchise proposal to a ditzy government minister, who is really REALLY trying to understand. A good drama team could also modify this into an effective stage skit. It's a 13Mb download, so you'll really need broadband - follow the advice on downloading it rather than watching it streamed.

THE WORLD WE LIVE IN

Danish - and other nationality sites - are under cyber-attack in retaliation for the recent actions of a Danish newspaper:

SEEKERS AND SKEPTICS AT YOUR DOOR

Rusty Wright explains how God could use you on the Internet - a Lausanne World Pulse article:

LORD OF THE RINGS OPPORTUNITY

Unfortunately, the excellent HobbitLore outreach site is no longer available - though you can still see what it used to look like, using the WayBack Machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/20050331084752/http://www.hobbitlore.com/

Maybe someone else will be led to develop something similar?

Tolkien enthusiasts may not all be aware that 25 years ago, the BBC produced a classic 13-hour audio dramatization of Lord of the Rings. This is still available on a CD set, and remains a masterly production. It is sold in USA and rest of the world for about half the price in UK for some reason. Have a look on Amazon.com, where you will also see second-hand offers much less again. Just make sure that when searching, you specify the 13-CD dramatization starring Ian Holm, Michael Hordern, etc, rather than various shorter audiobooks also available. (Amazon ASIN number is 0553456539 in every country except UK - you can search directly on this number on Amazon Canada, France, Germany and Japan.)

Oarsmen News
One day, the captain of the 40-oared royal Nile barge goes down to speak to the oarsmen in the hold of his ship.
"Men, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, the Queen will be joining us today for a trip up the Nile."
The men cheered and sang the praises of the Queen.
The captain then continued, "The bad news is, she wants to go water skiing."
