More about Internet Evangelism Day - the new focus day in 2006

Sport - a key to evangelism

Sport is an over-riding interest for many millions of people. It therefore offers us a major opportunity to create Bridge Strategy evangelistic pages, yet sadly there are very few available which are written primarily for non-Christians. The majority of Christian sport pages are sadly directed mainly at Christian readers. The evangelistic sites on this page have been written specifically for non-Christians:

The Goal and To the Next Level use sport testimonies in a very effective way. Doug Reese, webmaster of To the Next Level, shares encouraging feedback and how God led him to create the site.

Jason Stevens is built round an Australian Rugby league player.

Power to Change includes testimonies of sports people.

You will note that all these sites wisely avoid the appearance of being overtly Christian or preachy.

The opportunities

Manchester United, perhaps UK's most famous football club, has translated its official website into Chinese and Malay. They wish to sell replica players kits into these markets where they have a huge following. 'MU' have more fans in China than UK! When the team played a match in Shanghai recently, 100 million watched it on China TV. How desperately we need quality evangelistic pages in these languages. By 2003 there will be 100 million Chinese in mainland China online - more than the total of current users in USA. And restrictions by the Malaysian government make it extremely hard to share the Gospel with the majority muslim Malay population - most Malaysian Christians are from the Chinese minority.

Sport-related pages offer a powerful means of Bridge Strategy evangelism. Why not link to some of the sites featured on this page?
